SANEsters,
Okay, the next meeting is Tuesday, Nov 13 -- the week after the election -- and the current plan is to have everyone bring their best/worst/most photogenic/etc. projects from the 87 years of SANE and we'll photograph them and figure out something to do with them. No doubt put 'em in a book and sell it on Amazon and divide the profits equally. That's $0 to everybody!
Alternately, you could dredge up your old projects from your project drawer/box/closet/garage/freight car and get some good snap of them in action/on white/on black/drenched in mud/etc., to contribute to the overall photofest. But there is no doubt value in ganging several projects by different people in the same shot/sequence. Remember sock puppets? remember Chindogu? remember the kaleidoscopes? Take a photo thru the lens, maybe?
Or, if you can come up with a real project in the next week (deadline Tuesday, 30 October, 12midnight), you can postpone the photofest to another night.
We had a good bendy people meeting, and all the bendy people should definitely come back and get a portrait together.

SANE Meeting Tuesday 23 October 7pm
SANEsters,
Most everybody replied, and the verdict is in: The next/first SANE meeting will be a week from this Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00pm, at Pam A's house:
Let's repeat:
When: Tuesday, 23 October 2012
Where: Pam A's house
Project: Bendy people/shelf people/paper people/martha people, etc.
Card stock would be a good idea - and Betsey wondered about how the bent people would stay bent -- suggesting cardboard easelbacks to past on the backs. Think of these as collages, decorated however you like. Could be fun, and very distinctive. More detail follows, in the copies of previous emails.
If you're not getting these emails, please let me know! There was a problem in the mail room, and the marginally efficient bugger responsible for addresses has been sacked.
To those who can't make it to the meeting on this date, I'm very sorry, and we hope to see this whole happy family together again in Nowonder.

Okay, it turns out the Presidential Knife-fight is at 9pm on Tuesday -- they had the bad taste to schedule it the same night as the first SANE meeting of the season, but, as we all know, politics sux. Some patriotic SANEsters have indicated an interest in watching this, so the time and/or location is up in the air again. Can people get back to me with a preference on meeting time, and we'll see if we can find a place.
Option 1) Tuesday 10/16 7:00pm - same-o same-o
Option 2) Tuesday 10/16 6:30pm - start earlier so we can get home for the Pres thing
Option 3) Wednesday 10/17 7:00pm we can talk about the knife-fight the day after
Option 4) Tueday 10/23 7:00pm - a week later
Please write back with preferences (wade in on several options, if you can) and we'll try to get this sorted out ASAP.

SANE Meeting Tuesday, October 16
Yay! It's time for the first meeting of the year!!! Gosh, it seems like years since the LobsterPalooza! Umm, lobster! Oh, sorry, I lost myself for a second...
So more folks can make it on Tuesday, October 16 (which is a week from several days ago), and Ms. Pam has offered to host us again, and we have some concensus on a project, so, hey, let's get together and make some bendy people!
You're invited:
When: Tuesday, October 16, 7:00pm
Where: Pam A's dining room
Project: Bendy people/shelf people/paper people/martha people, etc.
papercraft -- paper people who sit on your shelves
martha people -- martha stewart's take on shelf people - requires roof flashing (soft metal)
string puppets -- fine art puppets (scroll down beyond wood fella)
We'll make people who can sit (to pick a place) on your shelves, refrigerator, atop your old CRT TV, mantlepiece, windowsill, etc. They are basically one-dimensional, folded (at the waist and knee, say) to create an illusion of three-dimensionality and support their sitting habits.
What to bring: paper, colored paper, photos, xerox copies of faces/body parts, glue, cardboard, roof flashing (optional), the usual array of cutting and drawing/inking tools and some idea whose bodies you want to immoralize [sic] in craft.
And it's been several years since we last got together, so make some notes from now until Tuesday of things that have happened to you and yours in the intervening time, so you can be sure to keep us updated!
And we'll want to plan out some meetings in the future, so think about when you want to get together in November, December, and/or a December Seasonal SANE Repast.
Hope to see y'all Tuesday!
