It's Official - Thurs, 6 Dec!

It's official, the date objected to by none of the respondents has been selected and the wheels of the Winter Solstice Dinner are finally in motion again! It's now time to lemme know who all is coming, and confirm whatcher gonna bringalong.

Let's Review:

The 47th Annual SANE Winter Solstice Feast, Yankswap and Gabfest
Thursday, 6 December 2007 AD, starting at 7pm (remember, it's a school nite)
Hosted by Flip & Terri & Duncan
RSVP to RLB ASAP, pls.

It's a Pot Luck-type affair, and Significant Others are invited to attend. Chilluns (well, Duncan) have attended in the past, with no evidence of permanent scarring. With luck, we'll have 18-20 people in attendance. The pot-luck goal would bring a dish or dishes that could comfortably serve, say, 15.

Several folks have already laid claim to various dishes, to wit:

Mary: hot veg (ratatouille-esque), salad & bread
Betsey: paper goods, water (presumably in bottles), jug o' wine
Pam A: big ol' crockpot of beef stew
Richard: variety o' quiches (likely options: asparagus, mushroom and ham/swiss)
Leslie: a dessert
Flip/Terri: don't gotta do nuthin', they have enough to do with the hostin'

Them what is coming and ain't on the above list should lemme know what you wanna brang. Suggestions for other items include: appetizers, soda/juice, another dessert, and Bedouin roasted stuffed camel-goat-chicken.

Attendees should bring the usual unusual $10 swap item, wrapped anonymously, and there will likely be a Yankee Swap (I have an idea to randomize the selection, so that the final picker won't know who they am until the penultimate gift), and merriment should no doubt ensue. Items should be amusing, engaging, weird, startling, or some combination of the above. The perfect item would be one that was wrapped enticingly enough to be selected first, and desirable enough so that every subsequent gift recipient opts to swap for it. And all for under $10, by gum!

Looking forward to an evening of merriment and culinary piquancy.

P.S. Need directions? lemme know and I'll forward same.
